Winter Is Coming: How to Get Your Vehicle Ready Before the First Freeze

The first deep freeze of a Canadian winter can catch any vehicle unprepared. Ice, snow and frigid temperatures demand more from your tires, battery and fluids than any other season. A little attention now can prevent trouble on the coldest mornings ahead.

Get Serious About Winter Tires

Once temperatures start dropping below 7°C, it is time to pay attention to your tires. INFINITI Canada recommends Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certified winter tires for superior snow traction in severe winter conditions. Your tire pressure and tread depth matter too, so both deserve a check before winter settles in.

Give Your Battery a Cold Weather Check

Cold mornings are not particularly forgiving to a struggling battery. INFINITI's multi-point inspection includes a battery capacity test, along with checks of its terminals, cables and mounting. If you've noticed slow cranking, dimming interior lights or needed a jump-start lately, those are signs worth dealing with before the temperature drops further.

Check What Keeps the Drive Clear

Winter prep goes beyond tires. INFINITI's inspection process checks coolant, windshield washer fluid, brake fluid, wiper blades, exterior lights and brakes. Those small details become pretty important when you're dealing with slush, shorter daylight hours and icy roads.

Put Winter Prep on the Calendar

INFINITI Canada recommends servicing your vehicle before the snow arrives rather than waiting for the forecast to turn ugly. A preventative check can catch worn tires, a weakening battery or other maintenance needs while they're still easy to address.
